Where are the starter homes?

Fewer than 10 developments offer entry-level homes for less than $300,000 in Fort Worth due to high buyer interest, low housing inventory and the rising cost of land and materials.

As Fort Worth’s median home price continues to climb, it’s gotten harder to find a starter home.

There are fewer than 10 communities in the Fort Worth area that offer homes starting at under $300,000.

Increased cost of land and lumber has pushed builders out to distant suburbs to build new neighborhoods of entry-level houses. That’s why many of these developments are so far from downtown Fort Worth.

Still, interested buyers need to act fast. In the week it took to put together this list, the starting prices for homes in two of the following communities jumped. One jumped over $300,000 and consequently off this list.
