American Airlines will serve Texas barbecue on select flights out of DFW Airport

Soon, Texans won’t have to leave their favorite food behind when leaving the Lone Star state.

Starting in February, American Airlines will offer select passengers a meal from the Dallas-based Pecan Lodge BBQ on flights out of DFW Airport.

Pecan Lodge is a Dallas-based barbecue joint known for brisket and burnt ends. Travel and Leisure as well as Tripadvisor has ranked the spot as some of the best barbecue in America. Customers can find them at 2702 Main St. in the Deep Ellum area of Dallas.

The Fort Worth-based American Airlines also has in-flight diningcollaborations with Champagne Bollinger and Lavazza coffee. The France-based Champagne Bollinger is offered on Flagship flights in business and first classes. Italy-based Lavazza coffee will be available in all cabins on American flights.

Passengers can already pre-order their Texas barbecue meal for their flight.

What’s on the Pecan Lodge x American Airlines menu

Pecan Lodge will offer a rotating menu by month on American Airlines flights.

During the month of February, the airline will offer the Pecan Lodge barbecue platter, which includes brisket, smoked sausage, mac and cheese and coleslaw.

In March, fliers can get a smoked chopped brisket sandwich served with a side of green beans, potato salad, pickles, onions and barbecue sauce.

Which American flights offer Pecan Lodge BBQ?

Only flights from DFW to New York airports — LaGuardia Airport (LGA) and John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) — will feature the Pecan Lodge BBQ menu.

Does it cost extra to order Pecan Lodge BBQ on an American flight?

The Pecan Lodge BBQ meal will be available only for customers who buy a first-class ticket on flights from DFW to JKF or LGA.

How to order Pecan Lodge BBQ on American Airlines flights

Passengers can already pre-order a Pecan Lodge meal for their flight.

  • You must choose your in-flight meal no later than 20 hours before your departure through the Access American Airlines website or their mobile app. 
  • Find your trip by entering your confirmation number, last name and birthday. 
  • Choose “reserve a meal” and select Pecan Lodge offerings.
