American Airlines is changing how some of its planes look — both inside and out
Fort Worth-based American Airlines is celebrating its centennial by refreshing its Boeing 777-300 planes to feature new exteriors and updates to all classes in the cabin.
Sporting silver with a bright orange lightning bolt and a bald eagle, the “Flagship DFW” is in honor of the first-ever air travel experience on the Douglas DC-3 plane.
The DC-3 flew from New York to Chicago in 1936. However, American Airlines took its first ever flight a decade earlier, on April 15, 1926, from St. Louis to Chicago. Instead of carrying passengers, that flight carried U.S. mail.
Here’s what else to know about the new digs.
When can customers fly on the new Flagship DFW plane?

However, all the Boeing 777-300 planes will get interior refreshes by next year to have the Flagship Suites.
