Pottery Barn, West Elm are opening new Fort Worth stores in this trendy area

Two high-end home furnishing stores are moving into one of Fort Worth’s trendiest shopping areas.

Pottery Barn and West Elm have signed deals to open in Westbend, the mixed-use development off South University Drive near the Trinity River, developer Trademark Property Co. announced Monday. The announcement of the new tenants means Westbend’s retail space is fully leased.

Both stores are slated to open in May 2026. Together they will occupy 22,126 square feet formerly occupied by Market by Macy’s. Macy’s announced plans to close the Westbend location in January.

Owned by Williams-Sonoma Inc., Pottery Barn and West Elm offer furniture, fixtures, decor and other home furnishings. Fort Worth isn’t unfamiliar territory for either brand.

Pottery Barn will relocate to Westbend from its current location across the street at 1616 S. University Drive in the University Park Village shopping center. West Elm opened a Fort Worth location at 2869 W. 7th St. in 2017, but it closed a few years later. The closest West Elm to Fort Worth is in Southlake.

Westbend, at 1701 River Run, is a popular home for trendy shopping and a mix of restaurant options. Shake Shack opened its second Fort Worth location there in late 2022.

In August, the Fort Worth City Council approved an $82 million mixed-use expansion of the Westbend development, including a seven-story complex. The city could contribute up to $3 million of grant funds to the project, if it meets all deadlines set in an economic incentives agreement.

Construction of Westbend Residences, a 321-unit, $36 million apartment complex, is expected to be complete in late 2026. About 4,500 square feet of commercial space is slated to be added to the property, and a new trail head will connect it to the neighboring section of the Trinity Trail system.

Opened in 2015, Westbend is home to 281,000 square feet of offices and commercial space along the Trinity River.
