H-E-B just opened its first location in Dallas County. Here’s what you can get

The summer heat and long nights of World Cup matches didn’t keep away customers who showed up to be the first shoppers at the first H-E-B in Dallas County Wednesday morning.

The new grocery store in Irving at 2351 W. Interstate Highway 635 opened at 6 a.m. June 17 to a crowd of eager customers.

The store employees more than 600 employees, according to a news release from the grocer.

“We’re honored to open our doors to this wonderful community, where our committed H-E-B partners are ready to earn the loyalty and confidence of local families,” said Juan-Carlos Ruck, H-E-B Executive Vice President for North West Food and Drug Operations and Real Estate. “We are eager to provide our customers in the Irving area with quality service and an outstanding selection of H-E-B favorites and flavors from around the world.”

Another unique thing about this store is that it’s the first H-E-B store to offer Masala House, an H-E-B product line of in-house meal options like chicken masala, butter chicken, naan, chutney dips and other items.

The store is located near customers in Coppell, Grapevine and West Dallas.

H-E-B also donated $10,000 each to four local charities: the Irving Family Advocacy Center’s counseling and support services; the Level Pathways’ care of homeless youth; the Coppell ISD Education Foundation’s classroom grants and STEM programs; and the Canine Companions.

This location also houses The True Texas BBQ restaurant, where customers can dine in or use its drive-thru.

Shoppers can get their sushi, fresh fruits, cakes, charcuterie board items, barbecue, groceries, medication, fresh flowers and more at the store.

Shoppers have the option to shop in person, curbside, get home delivery or use the full-service H-E-B Pharmacy with a drive-thru.

The store also has other products and services including:

  • An international assortment of rice, lentils and other items from Asia, Britain, Latin America and Central America
  • Handmade cakes, artisan breads, warm tortillas and new vegan options all made in store daily
  • The deli department has a large cheese selection and charcuterie island
  • An extensive craft beer and wine section with a sampling station
  • Cooking Connection with live demonstrations and samplings for easy recipes to make at home
  • Healthy Living department with bulk food items, sports nutrition products and supplements and a large frozen food selection

The Irving store is 112,000 square feet and is one of 13 H-E-B stores in the DFW area. The store is open seven days a week from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.

H-E-B has expanded into the Metroplex, by opening stores in Allen, Euless, Frisco, Fort Worth’s Alliance, Mansfield, Prosper and Melissa. There are also three Joe V’s Smart Shops and six Central Market stores in the region.

Last summer, H-E-B announced it is building a second Fort Worth location, after Alliance, in the Walsh development off Interstate 20 just west of the Parker County line.

H-E-B, with headquarters in San Antonio, operates more than 455 stores in Texas and Mexico and employs more than 175,000 people.
