Joann is going out of business and closing all 800 stores. Here’s where to go for final sales
After a rough financial year for the 82-year-old fabric and craft retailer, Joann has officially announced the company will be no more and all 800 if its stores will shut down, according to a news release.
In a case settlement hearing, GA Group and a loan agent have bought out all of the Ohio-based business’ assets and have decided all stores will commence closing sales.
Joann filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy at first in March 2024 and again in Jan. 2025. When a company files for bankruptcy twice, it is informally known as Chapter 22 bankruptcy. Following their most recent bankruptcy, Joann announced the closing of 500 of its 800 stores.
Unfortunately now all 800 stores will shut down. The closings will result in the loss of 19,000 part-time jobs, according to an Axios report.
There are 43 Joann stores in Texas, including two in Fort Worth. All stores will post their going-out-of-business sales immediately, which will feature discounts and special priced items.
What does this mean for Joann customers?
Joann customers will have their final opportunity to shop at their local stores in the next coming weeks.
Important things to note:
Joann stores are no longer accepting returns from customers.
Gift cards are eligible online or in store only until Friday, Feb. 28.
Personalized discounts are over (military, Girl Scouts, teachers, etc.).
Online shopping and shopping through their mobile app will still be available.
Joann will release the exact store closure dates in weeks to follow.
Where are local Joann Fabric and Craft stores?
There are two Joann stores in Fort Worth.
The one located at 5212 S Hulen St. is next door to Total Wine and More and is across from Chili’s. Hobby Lobby, another craft retailer, is a block over at 5020 S Hulen St.
The other location is at 1400 Green Oaks Road off of Ridgmar Boulevard. This shares a parking lot with Burlington and Olive Garden.
Both stores are open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. On Sundays, they are open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
