Castleberry school district just bought a big piece of River District property

Castleberry is one of the smallest school districts in the Fort Worth area, and now it has room to get bigger.

The district bought the former Fireside Lodge nursing home adjacent to its campus, according to officials at Williams Trew Real Estate.

“Today’s transaction marks an important expansion for Castleberry ISD to help serve the educational needs of our children in the future,” superintendent John Ramos said in a news release.

A purchase price wasn’t immediately available, although a Williams Trew official said the sale had closed. A review of recent school board agendas showed no mention of a potential land purchase.

The property at 4800 and 4830 White Settlement Road in Fort Worth is directly south of the Castleberry High School football field.

Tarrant Appraisal District records show that two tracts of land making up the former nursing home sit on 5.9 acres, and have an appraised value of approximately $8 million.

The property is in the fledgling River District of west Fort Worth, about five miles west of downtown.

The seller was McGrath Knapp Partnership.

“I have driven past this building a thousand times,” said Williams Trew’s Steve Berry, who represented Castleberry in the transaction. “This significant transaction will enable CISD to strategically expand their footprint directly adjacent to the current high school.”
