Where’s the best pizza in Fort Worth? The list includes thick, thin and all-you-can-eat

Olivella’s, Rosso, Zoli’s or Mama’s?

Hey, Bud! We talked last year about a French restaurant. What’s your judgment on pizza in Fort Worth?

—Caller to 817-390-7538

Our readers’ pick for Fort Worth’s best is Olivella’s Pizza and Wine, 4910 Camp Bowie Blvd. across from Kincaid’s. (Get the thin crust.)

I usually send callers wanting Neapolitan-style thin pizza to Cane Rosso, 815 W. Magnolia Ave. For New York-style, maybe Zoli’s, 3501 Hulen St.

The traditional local favorite is any Mama’s Pizza. Or for old-fashioned, cracker-crust pizzas on an all-you-can-eat buffet, it’s Parton’s, 2813 S. Cherry Lane.

Babe’s, Drew’s. Jesús BBQ for chicken

Hey, Bud! I miss good old bone-in fried chicken instead of tenders. Where do we go?

—Message to facebook.com/diningguy

Babe’s, of course — it’s one of America’s great chicken restaurants. The flagship is in Roanoke.

For a small, homey cafe, definitely go to Drew’s Place, 5701 Curzon Ave., or Jesús BBQ and Family Restaurant, 810 S. Main St. Both era open for lunch into mid-afternoon Tuesdays through Fridays, and Jesús is also open Saturdays. (Jesús is great at chicken-fried steak or cheese enchiladas, too.)

Bring back the beef

Hey, Bud! I never thought you would talk about pea-based or soy-based hamburgers, especially not in our great city we call Cowtown. Can next week be back to basic Mexican food, meat-and-potatoes?

Thanks for reading the midweek Food coverage in print or at star-telegram.com/eatsbeat. Don’t miss a bite.
