Eats Beat

Why are so many Fort Worth-area restaurants closing? (It’s not that tough to explain)

Austin City Taco, Five Guys restaurants closed

Hey, Bud! What a week. Why are all these restaurants closing?

—Pam, Fort Worth

Simple: The rodeo and Valentine’s Day are over, so it’s a good time to make changes before summer. Lili’s Bistro is coming back with a new format, but Austin City Taco didn’t make it with money tight. Five Guys left downtown in favor of the suburbs. (If you have a favorite restaurant, go support it, even if you have to split plates to save money.)

Del Toro BBQ restaurant in Mansfield has craft BBQ

Hey, Bud! What’s the new barbecue place in Mansfield?

—Oscar, Fort Worth

Del Toro BBQ is billed as “craft barbecue and brew,” from the owners of El Fenix and Snuffer’s. The signature sandwiches are made with brisket and sausage but topped with chimichurri, for example. It’s at 109 S. Main St., the former By the Horns Brewing.
