Where to get a free hot dog in Fort Worth to celebrate America’s 250th birthday
Every year for the Fourth of July, Curly’s Frozen Custard gives away 10 free hot dogs for each year it’s been open.
But instead of giving away 240 hot dogs for its 24th year of business this year, founder and managing partner Bourke Harvey decided to give away 250 free hot dogs in honor of America’s 250th birthday celebration.
Curly’s won Best Hot Dog in the Star-Telegram’s 2025 reader poll for best hot dog in Fort Worth. Since 2002, they’ve served Nathan’s Hot Dogs, which is the brand famous for hosting the annual Fourth of July hot dog eating contest on Coney Island.
The free hot dog giveaway has been a Curly’s tradition ever since the pandemic shut down their annual hot dog eating contest. they started by giving out 300 free hot dogs to the first 300 customers in line at the drive-thru. Since then, they’ve given away hot dogs proportionate to how long they’ve been open.
Go early. The stand opens at 11 a.m. and last year, Harvey expected to sell out in two hours.
