Dallas restaurant health inspections show a need for three re-inspections
Three restaurants in Dallas required re-inspection during the May 31-June 6 round of health inspections, according to data from the city collected by the Star-Telegram.
Dallas health inspections use a 100-point scoring system with the following rankings:
- 100-90: Very Good — Regular six-month inspection
- 89-80: Good — Regular six-month inspection
- 79-70: Passing — Requires re-inspection within 30 days
- 69-60: Failing — Requires follow-up inspection within 10 days or closure
- 59 and below: Unacceptable — Closure; requires inspection before reopening
During this period, 151 eateries were inspected. The restaurants that required re-inspection within the next 20 days included:
•Sky Blossom, at 1514 Elm St. # 611, Dallas, TX 75201-3509, with a score of 71.
•Abrams Street Tacos, at 12125 Abrams Road, Ste 108, Dallas, TX 75243-4557, with a score of 75.
•Sky Rocket Burger, at 111 S. Hall St., Dallas, TX 75226-1639, with a score of 76.
•Taqueria Garcia’s, at 9794 Forest Lane, Dallas, TX 75243-5702, and Vector Brewing Company, LLC, at 9850 Walnut Hill Lane # 405, Dallas, TX 75238-2012, were both re-inspected but had not yet received a score.
During these inspections there were no closures or failing inspections nor were there any signs of rodents or roaches.
A couple of restaurants had violations involving temperature issues:
Inspectors found raw chicken thawing in a hand sink along with raw chicken and raw beef stored above ready-to-eat foods at Barrel And Bones Dallas, at 12300 Inwood Road, Ste 130. The inspection also noted several foods above 41 degrees and many foods past the date mark. Barrel And Bones Dallas received a score of 82.
Several foods above 41 degrees, including raw chicken at 56F, pork at 57F, and turkey at 56F were observed at Village Burger Bar, at 12300 Inwood Road, Ste 210. The inspector also noted there was a buildup of mold on the shelves in the walk-in-coolers. The restaurant received a score of 83.
