‘Widespread rodent activity’ found in latest Plano health inspections

Three Plano restaurants were closed for pest infestations and “widespread rodent activity” in the latest round of city health inspections, according to the inspection report.

The report compiled by the Star-Telegram contains data from May 31 through June 6 and 96 inspections.

Plano’s health inspections function on a 100-point scale, where a score of 100 is considered perfect and a score of 70 is considered extremely poor. Each establishment receives between one and four routine inspections per year.

Three locations were closed because of pest infestations:

  • Eat Street Indian Kitchen, 3948 Legacy Drive, had a score of 51. The establishment had an infestation of live roaches and flies, and didn’t have a working hand sink in the kitchen.
  • Awesome, 1520 Independence Parkway, was unscored. Rodent droppings in multiple areas indicated “widespread rodent activity.” The establishment was ordered closed until a licensed pest service could treat the premises and cleaning and sanitization could take place.
  • Quiktrip #892, 1100 E. Spring Creek Parkway, had a score of 65. Inspectors noted an infestation of gnats and flying insects, and ordered the location to close its drink station and only serve prepackaged foods until the health department gave approval. The location was later approved to continue regular service after a follow-up inspection.

Inspectors also found rodent activity at Bund Wok, 617 K Ave. It had a score of 99. Rodent droppings were found on cardboard packaging. The establishment later corrected the violation, according to a follow-up inspection.
