1 Arlington restaurant closed for ‘severe’ roach infestation, health department says

One Arlington restaurant failed a health inspection due to multiple health hazards and was temporarily closed due to a “severe” roach infestation, according to the city’s inspection report.

The reports compiled by the Star-Telegram contain results of 102 inspections from May 24 through June 6.

Arlington’s inspections function on a 100-point system, where a score of 100 is considered perfect and 70 is considered extremely poor. The city of Arlington also provides establishments with inspection score certificates, which assign a letter grade — A, B, C or F — to help customers see the results of the latest health inspection.

Warique Peruvian Restaurant at 3330 Matlock Road, Suite 128, failed a routine health inspection with a score of 49 on June 2, after inspectors observed multiple time and temperature control issues resulting from improper hot and cold holding. The inspectors also noted improper date marking and incorrect food storage practices.

The restaurant had deficiencies in overall cleanliness, handwashing practices, sanitation methods and several needed facility repairs. The restaurant was closed on June 3 due to a “severe” roach infestation, the city said.
