Officer who was injured in Stop Six shooting is recovering well, police union says
The police officer who was injured by shrapnel during a shooting on Saturday night in the historic Stop Six neighborhood is recovering well, officials said on Facebook.
Fort Worth Police officer Caleb Ferren was providing security for a large event being held in the Rosedale Plaza Park when an unidentified gunman opened fire on the crowd, the Star-Telegram previously reported. The event, advertised as Stop Six Day, was intended to be family-friendly and feature musical performances.
During the shooting, a bullet struck Ferren’s patrol car and fragmented before striking him in the neck, police spokesperson Brad Perez said.
Ferren “is doing well and is being cared for” by his wife, who is also a Fort Worth Police officer, according to a post from the Fort Worth Police Officer’s Association.
A GiveInKind campaign has been established to help support Ferren and his family while he recovers, the post reads.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with Officer Ferren, his family, and all the victims and their loved ones,” officials said. “The men and women of the Fort Worth Police Officers Association stand united in support of our officer and the victims in our community.”
