Bakery and bookstore on Magnolia announces closure and final days
A community-driven tea shop, bakery and bookstore will turn its last leaf on Magnolia.
Leaves Bakery and Books began as Leaves Books and Tea Shop in 2018, serving hot and iced teas in a WiFi-free environment. Founder Tina Howard then took ownership of the Stir Crazy Baked Goods space on Magnolia and merged the two businesses together in 2022.
“Ten years ago we introduced the Leaves brand and vision to Fort Worth,” Leaves announced in an Instagram post on Monday morning. “And now it’s time for a new chapter. With full hearts, we are sharing that Leaves Bakery and Books will permanently close at the end of the summer.”
The bakery and bookstore encouraged customers to “pause from the hectic pace of life and be present.” They sold scratch-made cupcakes, sweet rolls, quiches, scones, muffins, cookies, cakes and pies. Books available for purchase are a small but mighty curated selection from Howard herself.
As for the “new chapter” referred to in the closing announcement, the bakery has not responded to requests for comments about what this means.
When will Leaves Bakery and Books close?
The final day for Leaves Bakery and Books will be on Saturday, Aug. 15.
The last day to place a custom bakery order will be on Aug. 4, and the last day to pick up custom orders will be on Aug. 8.
Additionally, the last day to use gift cards or “tea dates” will be on Aug. 9.
Events will still take place until closing. Check Leave’s social media for updates and announcements.
What to know about Leaves Bakery and Books closing
Leaves is putting together an online tip jar via Venmo for employees. Anyone who makes a $10 or more contribution will receive an emailed document of some of Leave’s favorite recipes. Be sure to leave your email in the Venmo notes.
Books are available in-store, but also can be purchased online through Bookshop.org.
The bakery will be open until Aug. 15 at 1251 W. Magnolia Ave. They are open Tuesday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Closed Mondays.
