Low scores, roaches found in kitchens in latest Plano health inspections
Five Plano food establishments recorded low scores and roaches were found at five others in the latest round of city health inspections, according to the inspection report.
The report compiled by the Star-Telegram contains data from April 12 through April 25 and 214 inspections.
Plano’s health inspections function on a 100-point system, where a score of 100 is considered perfect and 70 is considered extremely poor.
Five restaurants scored below 80 in the latest inspection period:
- Arabeska, located at 5420 14th Street, had a score of 73.
- Bols, located at 6505 West Park Boulevard, had a score of 74.
- Maharaja Indian Restaurant, located at 4152 West Spring Creek Parkway, had a score of 74.
- Charleys Cheesesteaks, located at 2300 14th Street in Plano, had a score of 76.
- Pita Shawarma, located at 3100 Independence Parkway, had a score of 78.
Four restaurants had violations related to roaches:
- Maharaja Indian Restaurant, located at 4152 West Spring Creek Parkway, had a score of 74. Inspectors found roaches in the kitchen by the ice machine.
- El Norte Grill Company, located at 2205 West Parker Road, had a score of 91. Inspectors observed a roach by the utility sink.
- The Dream Tacos, located at 8245 Preston Road, had a score of 97. A live cockroach was seen crawling over the top of a “debris covered” dishwasher.
- Minerva Banquet Hall & Catering, located at 3825 West Spring Creek Parkway, was unscored. Three live roaches were found at different areas in the kitchen.
