Roaches found at 10 Dallas food establishments in latest inspections

Two Dallas restaurants failed, and rodents and roaches were found at 11 others in the latest round of city health inspections, according to the inspection report.

The report compiled by the Star-Telegram contains data from March 29 through April 11 and 434 inspections.

Dallas inspections function on a 100-point system. A score of 100 is considered perfect and anything below 70 is considered failing. Establishments that fail require re-inspection within 10 days or face closure.

Eleven restaurants scored between 79 and 70 and require re-inspection within 30 days:

  • Chicago Pizza And Pasta, 3701 W. Northwest Highway, had a score of 70.
  • Kaze, 7525 Greenville Ave., had a score of 72.
  • Meso Maya, 1611 McKinney Ave., had a score of 72.
  • Knockout Sports Bar, 15225 Montfort Road, had a score of 74.
  • Good Time Food Mart, 7730 Ferguson Road, had a score of 75.
  • Cindi’s NY Deli & Restaurant, 306 S. Houston St., had a score of 76.
  • Alexanders Grill, 4805 Frankford Road, had a score of 77.
  • Jersey Mike’s Subs, 5521 Greenville Ave., had a score of 77.
  • The Crab Station, 2813 Commerce St., had a score of 77.
  • Food Rite Market, 2215 S. Marsalis Ave., had a score of 78.
  • Taj Mahal Indian Restaurant, 10219 N. Central Expressway, had a score of 78.

Rodents or roaches were found at 10 establishments:

  • Food Rite Market, 2215 S. Marsalis Ave., had a score of 78. A dead roach was observed on top of a food bucket near a sink.
  • Bocado, 3300 Ross Ave., had a score of 80. Roaches were observed in the kitchen.
  • Subway Sandwiches, 9669 N. Central Expressway, had a score of 82. Roach activity was observed near a prep table.
  • Lovers Eggroll, 6030 Luther Lane, had a score of 83. A roach was found walking on the dish machine.
  • Ronald E. McNair Elementary School, 3150 Bainbridge Ave., had a score of 90. Dead roaches were observed near a chemical storage room.
  • C.F. Carr School, 1952 Bayside St., had a score of 92. A dead roach was observed in a prep sink.
  • Familia Food Market, 4523 Maple Ave., had a score of 92. A dead roach was found in a freezer door.
  • Fairfield Inn & Suites, 9230 Lyndon B. Johnson Freeway, had a score of 93. Roaches were observed in the kitchen area.
  • Rosemont Lower - Chris V. Semos Building, 1919 Stevens Forest Drive, had a score of 97. Roaches were observed under a prep sink.
  • Jack Lowe Elementary/Sam Tasky Middle, 7000 Holly Hill Drive, had a score of 98. Roaches were present by a handwashing sink.
