Roaches found, low scores in latest round of Plano health inspections

Roaches were found at two Plano restaurants and 12 others had low scores in the most recent round of city health inspections, the report shows.

The report compiled by the Star-Telegram contains data from March 29 through April 11 and 229 inspections.

Plano’s city health inspections function on a 100-point system: a score of 100 is considered perfect and a score of 70 is considered to be extremely poor. Each establishment receives between one and four routine inspections per year.

Twelve food establishments scored below 80 in this round of inspections:

  • Shaahi Biryani, located at 3421 East Renner Road in Plano, had a score of 68.
  • Ebb And Flow, located at 7300 Lone Star Drive, had a score of 70.
  • Fish N Tails Oyster Bar, located at 1320 North Central Expressway, had a score of 72.
  • The Dream Tacos, located at 8245 Preston Road, had a score of 73.
  • Jimmy’s Burger Catering, located at 3309 North Central Expressway, had a score of 74.
  • Roma Italian Bistro, located at 1405 Jupiter Road, had a score of 74.
  • El Pueblito, located at 901 West Spring Creek Parkway, had a score of 75.
  • New Orleans Crab Shack, located at 901 West Spring Creek Parkway, had a score of 76.
  • Taco Cabana #286, located at 1101 East Spring Creek Parkway, had a score of 77.
  • Mama Vicky’s Pupusas Y Mas, located at 1112 East 15th St., had a score of 79.
  • Minerva Banquet Hall & Catering, located at 3825 West Spring Creek Parkway, had a score of 79.
  • Zhang’s Kitchen, located at 3948 Legacy Drive, had a score of 79.

Two restaurants were found to have issues with roaches:

  • Jimmy’s Burger Catering, located at 3309 North Central Expressway, had a score of 74. Inspectors observed two small “roach-like” insects in a back water heater room.
  • Minerva Banquet Hall & Catering, located at 3825 West Spring Creek Parkway, had a score of 79. Inspectors observed three roaches in the kitchen above sinks and near the dish machine.
