Two Tarrant restaurants closed over roach infestations in latest county inspections
Two Tarrant County restaurants were closed because of roach infestations, and another was noted to have problems with rats in the latest round of health inspections, according to the inspection report.
The report compiled by the Star-Telegram contains data from April 12 through April 18 and 147 inspections.
Tarrant County’s health inspections function on a 100-point system, with a score of 100 considered perfect and a score of 70 considered extremely poor. The county public health department inspects all restaurants in the county except those in Arlington, Euless, Fort Worth and North Richland Hills.
Two restaurants were closed in this round of inspections:
- China Wok, 2113 Harwood Road in Bedford, had a score of 61. Inspectors observed more than 20 dead cockroaches under a drink station in a back storage room. The restaurant passed a follow-up inspection and was allowed to reopen.
- Amores Pasta And Pizza, 1605 W. Northwest Highway in Grapevine, had a score of 84. Inspectors found multiple types of cockroaches on walls, floors, tables and equipment throughout the establishment, which closed voluntarily.
Two other restaurants had issues with rats or roaches:
- Yummy Yummy Donuts, 2621 Jacksboro Highway in East River Oaks, had a score of 65. Inspectors found rat droppings in drawers in a back storage area.
- Arby’s Restaurant, 3237 Harwood Road in Bedford, had a score of 87. Inspectors found three dead cockroaches by the ice machine.
