West 7th brewery will close by the end of the year — but it’s not goodbye

A West 7th-area brewery is closing its doors soon, according to a Dec. 23 Facebook post.

But this isn’t like other restaurant closings we’ve been hearing about.

Bankhead Brewpub and Bankhead Brewery at 611 University Drive in the West 7th area got an offer too good to pass up. So while it’s sad the Fort Worth location is saying goodbye, their business is still growing.

“Earlier this year, we received an exceptional offer for our Fort Worth property, one that made perfect sense for our long-term plans” the brewery wrote in the Facebook post. “We accepted it, and something even bigger is coming into that space soon.”

The original Bankhead Brewpub opened in Rowlett in 2021. The Fort Worth location has been open off University since 2016. There is also a third brewery in Farmers Branch. The restaurant is known for its live music and beer.

Here’s what we know about the Bankhead transition.

Will Bankhead Brewery move somewhere else in Fort Worth?

Bankhead Brewpub assured customers in their announcement that they are already looking at other prospective spaces. It is uncertain if the brewery plans to stay in Fort Worth.

The Star-Telegram reached out to owner Vivek Rajbahak for further information but has yet to receive a comment. Rajbahak is “already exploring new locations and are excited for what’s ahead in 2026 and beyond,” according to the Facebook post.

When will Bankhead Brewery close its doors?

Bankhead Brewery’s last day at the University Drive location will be on Tuesday, Dec. 30.

The brewery is hosting a going away party that day so customers can grab a beer and a bite.

Details on the going away party will be posted to Bankhead’s Facebook page.

Where are the other Bankhead Brewery locations?

The flagship Bankhead Brewpub in Rowlett is about an hour east of Fort Worth located at 3840 Main St.

The other location is a tad closer to Fort Worth, with a 45-minute drive to Farmers Branch at 13090 Bee St.
