Moldy beans, flies, roaches seen in Tarrant County restaurant health inspections
Moldy beans were found at one Tarrant County restaurant, and inspectors noted issues with roaches at three others in the latest round of county health inspections, according to the inspection reports.
The reports compiled by the Star-Telegram include health code violations from July 27 through Aug. 2 and the results of 86 inspections.
Tarrant County health inspections function on a 100-point system: A score of 100 is considered perfect and a score of 70 is considered extremely poor. Tarrant County Public Health inspects all restaurants in the county except for those in Fort Worth, Arlington, Euless and North Richland Hills.
At Chuy’s Mexican Restaurant, located at 7344 Baker Blvd. in Richland Hills, inspectors found beans in a reach-in cooler with what appeared to be “black organic matter” growth, according to the report. The restaurant had an overall score of 80.
Uzy’s Pizza And Gyro, located at 607 Harwood Road in Bedford, scored lowest with an overall score of 76. Inspectors also found a dead pest in the restaurant, according to the report.
The following three restaurants also had issues with pests, roaches or flies:
- Tutti Frutti Ice Cream Shop & Paleteria, located at 394 East Pipeline Road in Hurst, had a score of 82.
- Totally Tea, located at 736 W. Pipeline Road in Hurst, had a score of 86.
- Karibu Coffee Cafe, located at 2522 W. Park Row Drive in Pantego, had a score of 95.
