Dallas restaurant fails health inspection; flies and gnats observed at others
One Dallas restaurant failed its health inspection and five others require re-inspections, with violations at some locations including flies and gnats, the city’s recent inspection records show.
There were 185 restaurants inspected between July 27 and Aug 2, according to city data compiled by the Star-Telegram.
Dallas’ health inspections function on a 100-point system: A score of 100 is considered perfect and scores below 70 are considered failing, with reinspection required within 10 days.
Waya, a Japanese restaurant at 6334 Gaston Ave., failed after health inspectors observed multiple violations including food stored at incorrect temperatures, lack of handwashing soaps at the sink, miniature flies in the bathroom, and debris on equipment among others. The restaurant scored 67.
Five eateries needed to be re-inspected:
- Bucky Moonshine at 2912 Elm St. Score: 70.
- Sweet Bella at 8131 Forest Lane. Score: 70.
- El Ranchito Cafe & Club at 610 W. Jefferson Blvd. Score: 72.
- Jimmy John’s at 11810 Preston Road Ste 160. Score: 76.
- Forest Donut at 7726 Forest Lane. Score: 78.
Flies and gnats were observed at the following restaurants:
- Davis Fish Market at 2536 S. 2nd Ave. Score: 80.
- Cafe Izmir at 3711 Greenville Ave. Score: 87.
- Coco’s Fire And Grill at 410 N. Bishop Ave. #150. Score: 87.
- Javier’s Restaurant at 4912 Cole Ave. Score: 88.
- Palma at 2625 Main St.. Score: 90.
- Sonic #5537 at 1920 S. Belt Line Road #100. Score: 91.
- Discount Food Mart at 3627 Bonnie View Road Ste B. Score: 92.
- Javier’s Restaurant at 4912 Cole Ave. Score: 92.
- Buca Di Beppoat at 7843 Park Lane. Score: 95.
- Eighteen Ninety Marketplace at 2642 Main St. #150. Score: 96.
