1 person dies after high-speed crash with pole in Grand Prairie, police say

A high-speed crash in Grand Prairie on Sunday night left one person dead and another injured, police said.

Officers responded to a crash in the 800 block of Mayfield Road around 10:40 p.m., police said.

Police said a Toyota sedan was traveling at a high rate of speed east on Mayfield Road when the driver lost control and collided with a power pole.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Police said a second passenger was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and a third passenger was not injured.

The identity of the person who died will be released by the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office once next of kin have been notified.

The collision remains under investigation, police said.
