Dallas restaurant fails inspection; one cited for repeated improper food storage
One Dallas restaurant failed, six required reinspection and three had roaches or rodent droppings in the most recent round of city health inspections, according to the inspection reports.
The information compiled by the Star-Telegram includes health violations from July 20-26 and the results of 196 inspections.
Dallas restaurants are inspected regularly every six months. The inspections operate on a 100-point system: Scores of 80-100 are good, 70-79 pass but require a re-inspection within 30 days, 60-69 fail and require re-inspection within 10 days or they close, and 59 and below requires closure and an inspection before reopening.
Happy Mart, located at 4302 W. Camp Wisdom Road, failed the health inspection with a score of 66. The inspectors observed food that was unlabeled or without date marks, wings with an internal temperature of 115 degrees and flies throughout the building.
Six restaurants had scores below 80 in this round of inspections and require re-inspection: Anisa’s Kitchen, located at 7777 Forest Lane Suite A72, had a score of 70. Hall’s Honey Fried Chicken & BBQ, located at 4845 S. Lancaster Road, had a score of 70. Ravenna, located at 115 S. Field St., had a score of 71. Duncanville Mart, located at 4307 Duncanville Road Suite 120, had a score of 73. Sweet Rice 4 Llc, located at 2337 W. Mockingbird Lane, had a score of 73. Pho Midway, located at 17610 Midway Road Suite 140, had a score of 78.
Notably, Hall’s Honey Fried Chicken & BBQ had roaches in the kitchen, and Pho Midway had beef and eggs stored at temperatures higher than 41 degrees. Common violations for all six restaurants with scores under 80 included improper storage of food, food that was stored above the proper temperature, and unlabelled food or cleaning supplies, among other sanitary violations.
Wings & More Place, located at 7455 S. Westmoreland Road, had a score of 80. Rodent droppings were present in the freezer, according to the inspection report.
IHOP #3027, located at 7830 N. Central Expressway, had a score of 95. Inspectors observed a dead roach in the restaurant.
Faye’s Fusion, located at 1011 Corinth St., had a follow-up inspection after initially receiving a score of 77.
