3 restaurants closed, roach infestations found in Fort Worth health inspections
Three restaurants were closed and roaches were found at multiple others in the latest round of Fort Worth city health inspections, according to the inspection reports.
The reports compiled by the Star-Telegram contain health violations from July 13 through July 19 and the results of 126 inspections.
Fort Worth’s health inspections function on a demerit system: 0 demerits is considered a perfect score, and restaurants with over 30 demerits are required to fix the worst issues immediately and remedy the rest within 48 hours.
Three restaurants were required to temporarily close due to serious health issues:
Asian Star Buffet, located at 6920 Ridgmar Meadow Road, had a score of 34 demerits and was required to close due to a failing inspection and a roach infestation, according to the inspection report. Captain D’s, located at 8525 S. Hulen St., had a score of 12 and was closed due to issues with hot water temperature. A Holiday Inn Express location at 1111 W. Lancaster Ave. was also closed due to issues with hot water temperature.
In addition to the Asian Star Buffet, four other food establishments were noted to have issues with roaches:
- Donut Plus, located at 2201 Jacksboro Highway, had a score of 22.
- Tortilandia Oyster Bar, located at 1112 W. Berry St., had a score of 21.
- Kroger #439, located at 9114 Camp Bowie West Boulevard, had a score of 17.
- Captain D’s, located at 8525 S. Hulen St., had a score of 12.
