3 restaurants closed, 12 have roaches, rodents in Fort Worth health inspections

Three Fort Worth restaurants were closed, and rodents and roaches were found at a dozen others during the latest round of city health inspections, according to the inspection report.

The report compiled by the Star-Telegram contains data from July 6-12 and 189 inspections.

Fort Worth’s restaurant inspections function on a demerit system. Zero demerits is considered a perfect score. Restaurants with over 30 demerits are required to fix the worst problems immediately and remedy the rest within 48 hours.

Three establishments were closed for serious health violations:

  1. Wonderpho Noodles & Springroll Bar, 2747 S. Hulen St., had a score of 19. The restaurant was cited for live roaches and flies in the establishment, food debris on the floor and ceiling, and unclean floors, walls and ceilings.
  2. Can’t Resist Coffee 3 LLC, 3425 Cimmaron Trail, had a score of 14. The restaurant was closed because of unsafe hot water temperatures in its sinks.
  3. Waynes Grocery Corp., 1704 Vaughn Blvd., had a score of 1. Inspectors noted that the establishment was under construction at the time and had inadequate refrigeration.

Two restaurants received over 30 demerits:

  1. Tortilleria Super Sabrosa, 3251 Mansfield Highway, had a score of 43. The restaurant scored 18 during a follow-up inspection.
  2. Los Juanitos, 3221 Mansfield Highway, had a score of 33. The restaurant scored 18 during a follow-up inspection.

Two restaurants had issues with rodents or rodent droppings:

  1. Mexican Restaurant Perez, 3702 Altamesa Blvd., had a score of 18. Inspectors noted two rat droppings in the restaurant.
  2. Roosters Gathering Hole, 6001 N. Main Street, had a score of 17. Inspectors saw a rodent on a trap during the inspection.

Ten restaurants had issues with roaches or roach droppings:

  1. Tortilleria Super Sabrosa, 3251 Mansfield Highway, had a score of 43
  2. Mr Bakery Donuts, 4400 Benbrook Highway, had a score of 24
  3. Los Vaqueros, 2513 Rodeo Plaza, had a score of 20
  4. Acapulco Restaurant, 1320 NW 25th St., had a score of 19
  5. Wonderpho Noodles & Springroll Bar, 2747 S. Hulen St., had a score of 19
  6. Los Juanitos, 3221 Mansfield Highway, had a score of 18
  7. Mexican Restaurant Perez, 3702 Altamesa Blvd., had a score of 18
  8. Uncle Julio’s, 5301 Camp Bowie Blvd., had a score of 18
  9. Los Paisanos Restaurant Y Taqueria, 1446 N. Main St., had a score of 15
  10. Donuts Plus, 2977 S. Precinct Line Road, had a score of 13
