One Dallas restaurant fails health inspection; roaches found at three others

One Dallas restaurant failed, eight received low scores and four others had roaches or rodent droppings in the most recent round of city health inspections, according to the inspection reports.

The information compiled by the Star-Telegram includes health violations from July 6 to July 19 and the results of 299 inspections.

Dallas restaurants are inspected regularly every six months. The inspections operate on a 100-point system: Scores of 80-100 are good, 70-79 pass but require a re-inspection within 30 days, 60-69 fail and require re-inspection within 10 days or they close, and 59 and below requires closure and an inspection before reopening.

Myrtle Super Deli, located at 3945 Myrtle St., failed the health inspection with a score of 60. Inspectors observed produce not placed in a refrigerator, chicken below an internal temperature of 165 degrees, and flies and cigarette butts throughout the restaurant.

Eight locations received scores below 80 in the inspections:

  1. Asian Star Buffet, located at 9208 E. RL Thornton Freeway Suite 112, had a score of 70.
  2. Williams Chicken, located at 407 N. Lamar St., had a score of 71.
  3. Morelia Mexican Restaurant, located at 2707 W. Jefferson Blvd., had a score of 73.
  4. Dallas Bruton Fuel Mart, located at 9203 Bruton Road, had a score of 75.
  5. Haystack Burgers And Barley, located at 6465 E. Mockingbird Lane Suite 500, had a score of 75.
  6. Restaurant Eytienda Elmana #2 Pana, located at 11055 Dennis Road Suite 24, had a score of 76.

  7. Faye’s Fusion, located at 1011 Corinth St., had a score of 77.
  8. Hops & Hens, located at 665 S. Lamar St. Suite 110, had a score of 78.

Notably, at Asian Star Buffet the inspector found hair in a pot of rice and mold/dirt in the ice machine. Many violations included food that was expired or not date marked, contaminant-susceptible food storage and employees not washing hands.

Inspectors observed roaches at three restaurants:

  1. Denny’s #7713, located at 7120 S. Cockrell Hill Road, had a score of 80.
  2. T.N.T. Sports Page, located at 14902 Preston Road Suite 716, had a score of 87.
  3. Crowne Plaza, located at 7050 N. Stemmons Freeway, had a score of 93.

Peak Food Mart, located at 700 S. Peak St., had a score of 93. Inspectors cited the business for rodent droppings in cabinets, according to the report.
