Two Fort Worth restaurants close, roaches found in three in health inspections
The latest round of health inspections in Fort Worth resulted in two temporary restaurant closures and three restaurants with observed roaches, according to the inspection reports.
The reports, which were compiled by Star-Telegram, contain data and health violations from June 22-June 28 and the results of 166 restaurant inspections.
Fort Worth’s health inspections use a demerit-based system. Violations are categorized as Priority (3 demerits), Priority Foundation (2 demerits), and Core (1 demerit), depending on the severity.
While there is no official failing score, state law requires immediate corrective action if an eatery receives more than 30 demerits. Scores reflect only the conditions at the time of inspection.
Two food establishments temporarily closed due to serious health violations:
Sunny Food Mart #9, 3850 Altamesa Blvd. Score: 11 — Sunny Food Mart #9 was ordered to close immediately after inspectors found fruit flies, dead cockroaches, improper food and handwashing practices, missing sanitizing test strips and paper towels, and ceiling panels that were detached near the warewashing area
7-Eleven #24638B, 6251 McCart Ave,.Score: 9 — 7-Eleven #24638B was shut down after inspectors found inadequate hot water

Martha’s Gourmet, 4450 Boat Club Road, Ste 600. Score: 14
Sunny Food Mart #9, 3850 Altamesa Blvd. Score: 11
