Four Tarrant County restaurants cited for mold in recent health inspections
No Tarrant County restaurant was shut down in recent health inspections, but multiple food establishments were cited for mold violations.
From March 20 through March 26, 52 restaurants underwent inspections throughout the county other than the cities of Fort Worth, North Richland Hills, Euless and Arlington, all of which conduct their own inspections. None of the places to eat scored over 29 demerits, which would require a followup inspection.
Chicken Express of Hurst, at 96 Grapevine Highway, scored the worst out of the 52 restaurants with 25 demerits.
The fast food restaurant was cited for mold-like substances in its ice machine and an employee not washing their hands as they went to work on food items after washing dishes. Health inspectors also said the business has a fruit fly problem.
Wildwood Grill, located at 2700 E. Southlake Blvd. in Southlake; Carson Food Mart, located at 2531 Carson St. in Haltom City; and Quick Way In, located at 6751 Rufe Snow Drive 800 in Watauga, all were cited for mold violations.
Wildwood Grill, scoring a 16, was cited for molded tomatoes and cutting boards. Carson Food Mart, with a score of 6, was observed to have “heavy slime / mold like formation inside soda nozzles in the self-serving area,” and Quick Way In, with a score of 3, had mold-like formation on a tray located inside an ice machine.
