Roaches, rats found in Mansfield Chinese restaurant in latest Tarrant County inspections
Out of 314 Tarrant County restaurant inspections, Ying Cafe in Watauga and China King Super Buffet in Mansfield received the most demerits from Sept. 13-Oct. 1.
In Tarrant County inspections, establishments receiving over 29 demerits require a follow-up inspection. County-wide inspection reports cover all areas except for Fort Worth, Arlington, Euless and North Richland Hills.

Ying Cafe, at 6651 Hightower Drive in Watauga, received 42 demerits during its Sept. 24 inspection for improper food labeling, improper food handling and failure to maintain a clean establishment, according to compiled city data. The restaurant passed a follow-up inspection with a 7 on Sept. 29.
China King Super Buffet at 920 U.S. 287 Frontage Road in Mansfield was inspected three times, on Sept. 21, 24 and 27. On Sept. 21 the restaurant received 36 demerits for food stored at improper temperatures, which required the food to be discarded, and a heavy infestation of roaches and rats.
For China King Super Buffet’s follow-up inspection on Sept. 24, the report noted rat droppings behind the soda cooler in the dining room. The restaurant’s Sept. 27 report noted that the establishment would be on temporary approval status until Sept. 29, however the results for that day are not included in the report.
