Health inspectors close Fort Worth restaurant two days in a row for serious problems
One restaurant was closed for serious health code violations and two had perfect inspection scores between June 20 and June 26, according to data collected by health inspectors and compiled by the Star-Telegram.
Stormie Monday Cafe, located at 3509 E. Berry St., a soul food restaurant, was closed once on June 23 for unspecified serious health code violations, then again after a follow-up inspection the next day.
An employee of the restaurant who answered the phone said neither the owner nor manager wanted to comment.
Restaurants are given scores that increase with each violation found. A score of zero is perfect, while a score of more than 30 will result in the restaurant have to clean up the worst problems immediately and fix others within 48 hours.
Violations listed at Stormie Monday Cafe included meats stored with ice, grease, water and other residue behind equipment, no paper towels at hand sinks and unclean food contact surfaces. In total, it received 13 violations in its second inspection.
The highest score, though, went to NY Pizza and Pasta at 4212 Highway 360.
The Italian restaurant had food improperly stored, food not protected from cross-contamination, inadequate cleaning supplies, problems with the heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems and food that “is not safe, in good condition, unaltered, and honestly presented,” according to notes from the inspector.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, Willoughby House, at 8100 W. Elizabeth Lane, and Texas Health Resources in Clearfork had perfect scores, meaning inspectors did not record any violations in the establishments.
