Country music star Riley Green joins ‘Yellowstone’ spinoff ‘Marshals’ on CBS
A country music star is making his acting debut in a new “Yellowstone” spinoff.
Variety reported this week that Riley Green is joining the cast of “Marshals” as a guest star. The CBS show premieres on March 1 and sees Luke Grimes reprise his “Yellowstone” role as Kayce Dutton in a new adventure.
Green will play former Navy SEAL Garrett, who hopes to lean on his friends Kayce and Cal (Logan Marshall-Green) to help “put the demons of his past to rest.”
“I’m so excited to be joining the cast of ‘Marshals.’ Being on set with my buddy Luke Grimes made the experience even more memorable,” Green said in a statement to Variety. “This is my first go around in the acting space and I couldn’t have asked for a better introduction to this world.”

Green, 37, has been in the country music scene since the mid-2010s.
His debut album “Different ‘Round Here” released in 2019, and Green followed up with subsequent releases in 2023 and 2024. Beyond the three albums, Green released seven EP’s from 2017 to 2025.
Last year, Green and fellow country music star Ella Langley won Song of the Year for “You Look Like You Love Me” at the Academy of Country Music Awards and Country Music Association Awards.
Green has around 12.5 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
More on ‘Marshals’
“Marshals” follows Kayce Dutton after “Yellowstone” season 5.
“With the Yellowstone Ranch behind him, Dutton joins an elite unit of U.S. Marshals, combining his skills as a cowboy and Navy SEAL to bring range justice to Montana,” the show’s symopsis reads.
“Kayce and his teammates – Pete Calvin (Logan Marshall-Green), Belle Skinner (Arielle Kebbel), Andrea Cruz (Ash Santos) and Miles Kittle (Tatanka Means) – must balance the high psychological cost of serving as the last line of defense in the region’s war on violence with their duty to their families, which for Kayce includes his son Tate (Brecken Merrill) and his confidantes Mo (Mo Brings Plenty) and Thomas Rainwater (Gil Birmingham) from the Broken Rock reservation.”
Grimes is not the only “Yellowstone” cast member to reprise his role on the new show.
Gil Birmingham and Mo Brings Plenty are back as Thomas Rainwater and Mo, respectively. Brecken Merrill is also back as Kayce’s son Tate.
There has been no word on if Kelsey Asbille will reprise her role as Kayce’s wife Monica.
Several of the executive producers behind “Yellowstone” are also back on board for “Marshals,” including Taylor Sheridan, David Glasser, Art Linson and John Linson. Spencer Hudnut serves as showrunner and executive producer on the show.
“Marshals” premieres March 1 on CBS.
