‘Hilarious’ TCU alum Jeremy Culhane joins ‘SNL’ cast for season 51

A TCU alumnus has joined the cast of “Saturday Night Live” for season 51.

NBC announced this week that Jeremy Culhane is among the new cast members joining for the show’s 51st season, which premieres Oct. 4. In addition to Culhane, four other new players were cast this week.

Culhane, who is from Altadena, California, is a 2014 graduate of TCU with degrees in philosophy and economics. During his time in Fort Worth, Culhane was a member of TCU’s Student Filmmakers Association and improv troupe Senseless Acts of Comedy.

TCU film professor Richard Allen advised the comedy troupe and said he couldn’t be happier for Culhane.

“No surprise that Jeremy Culhane made it all the way from SAC to SNL,” Allen said in a post on social media. “When Jeremy stepped on stage, his comic timing, hilarious characterizations and quick-minded wit, left SAC audiences in stitches every Thursday night. TCU and SAC are going to be bragging about this alum for a long, long time.”

The comedian is also a regular on Dropout TV, appearing in several variety shows and sketches on the comedy streaming service.

Culhane joins a growing list of “SNL” cast members with Texas ties.

Houston-born Randy Quaid was on season 11, followed by San Antonio’s Noël Wells on season 39. Plano’s Aristotle Athari was on season 47, and Pflugerville’s Devon Walker was on seasons 48-50.

Port Noches’ Andrew Dismukes is still on the show after joining for season 46.
