PHOTO: ‘Landman’ star Billy Bob Thornton visits North Texas church while filming

“Landman” stars Billy Bob Thornton and Jacob Lofland recently paid a visit to a North Texas church while in town filming.

Between scenes in Springtown, the pair stopped by the First United Methodist Church to pose with an outdoor sign featuring a “holy” message tied to the show.

“The ‘Landman’ is a negotiator/God offers grace free and clear,” one side of the sign at 109 W. 3rd St. reads.

“With the limitations of a drilling rig/Know that you will go deeper with Jesus,” the other side says.

Thornton, dressed in his character’s typical jeans and pearl snap shirt, is seen posing on one side with Lofland, who sports a Texas Tech hat, on the other. See the image below.

‘Landman’ filming in North Texas

Not much is known about what “Landman” was filming in Springtown last week.

The Paramount+ series has been filming across North Texas since cameras began rolling on season 2 in late-March on TCU’s campus. The show has also filmed scenes in Cresson, Jacksboro, Benbrook, Denton and Strawn.

Production on season 2 is expected to continue into the summer.

“Landman” is described as a “modern-day tale of fortune seeking in the world of West Texas oil rigs.”

The Thornton-led series premiered on Paramount+ in November 2024 and wrapped its 10-episode first season on Jan. 12. The drama is co-created by Taylor Sheridan and Christian Wallace, who created the “Boomtown” Texas Monthly podcast that the show is based on.

“Landman” season 1 starred Thornton, Lofland, Demi Moore, Jon Hamm, Paulina Chávez, Ali Larter, Michelle Randolph, Kayla Wallace, James Jordan, Colm Feore and Mark Collie. Michael Peña, Andy Garcia and Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones appeared in guest roles.

All episodes of “Landman” season 1 are streaming on Paramount+.
