PBR, Cosm bringing immersive bull riding action to North Texas dome theater

Through a new partnership, the PBR will bring fans inside the arena and onto the dirt without actually being there.

Fort Worth-based PBR and Cosm will partner on screening four team league events this summer at theaters in Texas and California. The Los Angeles-based Cosm specializes in immersive dome technology that “transports” fans into films and sporting events.

Sports fans may have seen viral video of Cosm technology last fall, when NFL and college football games were broadcast at theaters. Some footage made it appear like the audience was on the sideline just feet from the action.

Cosm theaters in Los Angeles and The Colony (5776 Grandscape Blvd.) are the theaters showing PBR events this summer.

“Until now you’d have to be a rider, a bull, a bull fighter, or the entertainer to get this close to the action,” PBR CEO Sean Gleason said in a press release. “Every sports fan will want to experience the speed, power and incredible athleticism of our bulls and bull riders in Cosm’s unparalleled presentation.”

PBR and Cosm partner up

PBR will showcase four Camping World Team Series events in Cosm theaters this summer:

  • July 27- Duluth, Minn.
  • Aug. 10- Sunrise, Fla.
  • Aug. 17- Nashville, Tenn.
  • Aug. 27- Austin, Texas

Tickets for the PBR events at Cosm’s theater in The Colony are available on its website here.

“At our core, our mission is to transport guests to places that they’ve never been able to access before, and in this case, a space that has traditionally been off limits except to elite athletes,” said Peter Murphy, Senior Vice President of Media and Content at Cosm. “We are thrilled to be able to showcase the incredible feat of bull riding to new and old Western sports fans alike, delivering new angles that promise to give a new appreciation to the sport.”
