Riley Green, Bailey Zimmerman to perform at 12th annual American Rodeo in Arlington
A multi-day event packed with Western sports and country music will soon descend upon North Texas.
The 12th annual American Rodeo Championship Weekend returns to Arlington’s Globe Life Field on April 11-12. Tickets are still available for the event and can be purchased online.
Known as the “richest single-day rodeo in the world,” the American Rodeo is comprised of the following eight Western sports: saddle bronc riding, steer wrestling, tie-down roping, bull riding, breakaway roping, bareback riding, barrel racing and team roping.
The annual event is lucrative for competitors, with the rodeo handing out $4.6 million to athletes in 2024. This year, as always, there’s a $1 million winner-take-all bonus at stake.
Country Music at the American Rodeo
In addition to the various sporting events, another major draw of the American Rodeo is the country music artists slated to perform.
Bailey Zimmerman will kick off the weekend on April 11, followed by Riley Green and Ella Langley on April 12. The trio of singers have been nominated for several Academy of Country Music Awards over the last few years.
Several of the biggest names in country music have performed at the American Rodeo over the last few years, including Post Malone, Luke Bryan, Cody Johnson, Sheryl Crow, Darius Rucker, Maren Morris, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill.
More about the American Rodeo
The first American Rodeo was held in 2014 at AT&T Stadium.
According to previous Star-Telegram reporting, the event was the brainchild of Randy Bernard, the former CEO of the Professional Bull Riders organization. Bernard worked at the PBR in the late 1990s and 2000s.
Bareback rider Richmond Champion won the $1 million bonus at the 2014 event.
From 2014-22, the American Rodeo was held at AT&T Stadium. In 2023, the event moved down the road to Globe Life Field, where it has remained every year since.
