A North Texas movie theater is hosting a screening and event for an Oscar-nominated Fort Worth musician.

Fort Worth’s Abraham Alexander is attending the Texas Theatre’s screening and Q-and-A for “Sing Sing” at 4 p.m. Sunday in Dallas. To purchase tickets, buy online or at the theater’s box office.

Alexander picked up a Best Original Song Oscar nomination for “Like a Bird” from the prison drama “Sing Sing.” He shares the nomination with Austin’s Adrian Quesada, who is also attending the Dallas event.

It’s been an exciting few weeks for Alexander, who learned of his Oscar nomination on Jan. 23.

Last week, he and Quesada performed their Oscar nominated tune on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” in Los Angeles. This weekend is the Dallas event for “Sing Sing,” plus the Oscars ceremony is mere weeks away on March 2.

Alexander is also working on his second album, according to a recent social media post.

“These songs started as whispers just ideas and feelings but piece by piece, they’ve taken shape. Still, they won’t truly come alive until they’re shared in a room full of voices ready to receive them. Can’t wait to finish my sophomore album and bring these songs where they belong… on the road, with you,” Alexander wrote on Instagram.

“Sing Sing” is nominated for three total Oscars, including Best Actor in a Leading Role, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Original Song.

The film is directed and co-written by Greg Kwedar, who also grew up in Fort Worth. Since he helped pen the film’s script, Kwedar picked up an Oscar nomination, alongside Clint Bentley, Clarence Maclin and John “Divine G” Whitfield.

In addition to screening in Dallas, the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth is showing “Sing Sing” throughout this weekend at 3200 Darnell St.
