Go skating at this North Texas ice rink USA Today calls one of the best in America

Mosey over to the No. 4-best ice skating rink in the country at The Galleria Dallas- according to USA Today.

USA Today compiles rankings based on expert opinion and reader’s votes. One of the most recent lists was a ranking of the 10 best ice skating rinks in the U.S. The Galleria Dallas was the only Texas spot on the ranking.

“Since its opening in 1982, this renowned venue has hosted its fair share of talent over the years — more Olympians have performed here than at any other rink in the state,” USA Today wrote about the Galleria.

Dorothy Hamill, a gold medal Olympian and figure skater, performed at the opening of the ice rink. Other noteworthy performers included 2014 Olympic Gold Medalists Meryl Davis and Charlie White and pair skaters Alexa Knierim and Brandon Frazier, who won a silver medal in the 2022 Olympics.

The ice rink also hosts the nation’s largest indoor Christmas tree, which stands tall in the middle of the rink until Jan. 6.

The Galleria Dallas is only a 40-minute drive from Fort Worth, located at 13350 Dallas Pkwy, Dallas. Besides ice skating, the Galleria has over 200 shops and restaurants for guests to enjoy. A unique perk to the venue is the Westin Galleria Hotel located in the middle of the mall.

If you would like to ice skate, here’s what you should know.

How to ice skate at the Galleria Dallas ice rink

One great thing about the Galleria Dallas ice rink is that it is open year-round. No reservations are needed because they operate on a first come, first served basis.

It costs less than $20 per person to skate. The admission fee is $13. It’s an additional $5 to rent skates. For groups of 10 to 50 skaters with skate rentals included is $13 a person. Any group over 51 skaters is $12.50 a person, with skate rentals included.

The admission fee grants skaters unlimited time on the ice. It is important to note that group rates are not offered during these dates:

  • Dec. 20, 2024 until Jan. 6, 2025.
  • Weekends between Nov. 23, 2024 and Jan. 5, 2025

The Galleria Dallas’ public skating hours are:

  • Monday: 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and 7:45 to 9:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Wednesday: 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
  • Thursday: 10 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. and 8 to 9:30 p.m.
  • Friday: 10 a.m. to 10 p.m..
  • Saturday: noon to 10 p.m.
  • Sunday: noon to 6 p.m.

Ice skating can be intimidating, but with proper training you can learn to glide across the rink in no time.

The Galleria Dallas ice rink offers both group and private skate lessons for any age. Enrolling in classes also grants skaters unlimited admission to public sessions, free skate rental on class days, three free admission passes, and more.

A five-week beginner class begins on Jan. 6, 2025 for $80. They also have introductory promotional private lessons on Saturday afternoons for $31. These include admission, skate rental and a 15-minute private lesson. Reservations should be made ahead of time. You can register for skate classes by calling 972-392-3361.
