Looking for some early doorbuster deals? These stores are open on Thanksgiving
Capitalism waits for nothing and no one — not even turkey.
The specter of holiday-themed gift shopping creeps earlier and earlier every year, forcing more retail stores than ever to throw open their doors on Thanksgiving rather than waiting until the wee hours of the morning on Black Friday as our Founding Fathers intended.
And because nothing is sacred anymore, some stores aren’t even giving you time to wake up from the food coma you slipped into after the fourth helping of your aunt’s pecan pie.
The following stores will open on Thanksgiving:
Best Buy, 5 p.m.
Bed Bath & Beyond, 5 p.m.
Dick’s Sporting Goods, 6 p.m.
GameStop, 3 p.m.
JCPenney, 2 p.m.
Kohl’s, 5 p.m.
Macy’s, 5 p.m.
New York & Company, 6 p.m.
Old Navy, 3 p.m.
Target, 5 p.m.
Walmart, 6 p.m.
If you’re beyond redemption and insist on staking out deals on Thursday, here are some tips to make it a productive holiday.
First, the best deals on Thursday are likely to be the big ticket items, like televisions. Walmart’s doorbuster deal for their Onn 50-inch TV is $148, and they also have a 65-inch Philips going for $278. At Best Buy, you can snag a 58-inch Insignia for $199 and an LG 55-inch for $299 with the Magic Remote.
TVs aren’t going to be the only hot items in stores.
If you’re looking for other tech, you can find discounts on Samsung Galaxy smartphones, older versions of iPhones and smart home devices at Best Buy, Target and Walmart.
If you have a gamer on your gift list, GameStop is offering a ton of deals.
For the doorbusters, the store is offering a Nintendo Switch bundle on Thursday and Friday: If you buy a new Switch, you’ll get a free digital copy of Mario Kart 8 and a $25 gift coupon. GameStop is also offering a Sony PS4 1 terabyte bundle with the games God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn and Last of Us for $199.99. If you’re eyeing the Xbox One, you can get an Xbox One S 1 terabyte bundle with digital copies of Fortnite Battle Royale, Minecraft and Sea of Thieves for $149.99.
