Roaches, large number of health violations result in closing 2 Fort Worth restaurants

Two Fort Worth restaurants were closed for serious health violations and two received more than 30 violations, forcing them to immediately correct the most serious health code violations in inspections from July 4 to July 10. One restaurant had a perfect score, meaning no violations, according to data collected by health inspectors and compiled by the Star-Telegram.

Wonderpho Noodles and Springroll Bar at 2747 S. Hulen St. and Prima Pasta and Pizza at 6108 S. Hulen St. were both closed because of serious health code violations.

Wonderpho had expired food, improperly stored food, improperly stored chemicals, a household microwave in use and dirty food contact surfaces, food storage units, floors, walls and ceilings, among other violations. In total, the restaurant scored 37 violations, according to the inspection report.

Prima Pizza and Pasta had 28 violations, below the 30 violation threshold for immediate action, but had serious enough health risks present to result in the closing of the restaurant, according to inspectors. The restaurant had improperly stored food, improper use of equipment, grease buildup and, the violation that resulted in the closure, roaches in the restaurant.

These restaurants have to take immediate corrective action on the most serious of health code violations and undergo a follow-up inspection before reopening.

In addition to Wonderpho, King Wok at 4544 Golden Triangle Blvd. breached the corrective action threshold with 36 recorded violations. Violations included improperly stored food, inadequate water pressure at handwashing sinks and unclean surfaces and vent hood.

A score of more than 30 will result in the restaurant having to clean up the worst problems immediately and fix others within 48 hours.

Luna Grill at 8825 Tehama Ridge Parkway was the only restaurant during this inspection period to get a perfect score, meaning inspectors did not note any violations in the restaurant.

Here are the inspection scores and violations for restaurants within the city limits of Fort Worth for July 4th - 10th, 2021. Scores are based on a demerit system. When the total exceeds 30, the restaurant must take immediate corrective action on all identified critical violations, then has 48 hours to initiate corrective action on all other violations.
