The Dallas Cowboys and Houston Texans have discussed contingency plans for next Thursday’s preseason finale as Hurricane Harvey heads toward the Houston area.
Cowboys Executive Vice President Stephen Jones said playing the game at AT&T Stadium is an option, if needed. Thursday is an open date at the stadium. The game is scheduled to be played at Houston’s NRG Stadium.
“We’ll make it available if we need to,” Jones said Friday during an opening ceremony for the Omni Hotel at The Star. “We want to help any way we can.”
Hurricane Harvey, a Category 3 storm, is expected to hit Texas closer to Corpus Christi late Friday or early Saturday, but it could turn. It is expected to bring rain and potential flooding to the Houston area, and the storm could move closer to Houston by Sunday or Monday.
Never miss a local story.
As of Friday, the Cowboys still intended to travel to Houston for the game.
