Get to know Arlington Martin defensive end Spencer Trussell, who is expected to sign with Kansas State this week during the early signing period.

This is the first year of the early signing period, which allows recruits the opportunity to sign their National Letter of Intent between Dec. 20-22 instead of waiting for National Signing Day on Feb. 7.

High School: Arlington Martin High School

Position: Defensive end

Size: 6-foot-4, 220 pounds

Rated: A three-star recruit, No. 68 weakside defensive end, and No. 179 player in Texas, per 247Sports.com

Committed to: Kansas State

Expected to sign: Wednesday at 9:30 a.m.

Others considered: Texas State, Texas Tech, Central Arkansas, Texas-San Antonio

Opposing coaches call Trussell “disruptive.” A blue-collar, hard-working type, Trussell is blessed with an explosive first step. Both of his two older brothers played at Martin before landing Division I scholarships, so Trussell knows the drill.

“He’s a delightful young man,” said Martin coach Bob Wager. “He had a terrific career here at Martin and we are very proud of him. He was selected to our leadership council by his teammates, which is a very big deal here and shows you what kind of person he is.”
