Furious rally propels Boswell past Denison

Boswell senior wide receiver Breshun Berry caught a 23-yard touchdown pass from sophomore quarterback Brayden Thomas with 34 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter to rally the Pioneers from a 14-0 first-quarter deficit for a 39-35 come-from-behind victory over Denison in a Class 5A-Division II bi-district playoff game at Apogee Stadium. The Pioneers will face Richland in the second round.
Key players: Thomas keyed Boswell’s passing attack, throwing 45 times for 317 yards and four touchdowns, three of which were caught by Berry. Berry finished with 135 receiving yards. Dutch Patterson had 115 receiving yards and one touchdown. Denison senior quarterback Austin Emery rushed 36 times for 165 yards and four touchdowns.
Key stat: Boswell outscored Denison 16-0 in the fourth. The late heroics for the Pioneers began when the YellowJackets were flagged for intentional grounding in the end zone, resulting in a safety. Thomas later threw two touchdowns. Boswell’s Terrance Wair recovered a fumble with 1:55 remaining.
