Fossil Ridge receiver and Richland linebacker earn Player of the Week honors

More than 62,000 votes were cast for the dfwVarsity Week 1 football Players of the Week.

Richland senior linebacker Matthew Quenichet is the defensive Player of the Week. He recorded an interception, a fumble recovery, half a sack, and nine tackles against Nolan Catholic.

Quenichet received 15,402 votes, followed by 12,766 for Southlake Carroll defensive lineman Jacob Doddridge. He recorded nine tackles, four for loss, two sacks, and caused a fumble against Broken Arrow.

For offensive Player of the Week, Fossil Ridge wideout Stefan Cobbs received 11,453 votes, while teammate and runner-up Cobe Craft was second with 8,640 votes. Cobbs caught eight passes for 180 yards and three touchdowns against Arlington Lamar. Craft passed for 290 yards and four TDs against the Vikings.
