Richland quarterback accounts for three TDs as Rebels dominate Nolan Catholic
Richland QB Drew Trent spread his passes among speedy receivers Rashee Rice and Shamar Johnson, and RB Rylee Johnson ran for 177 yards and three touchdowns as Rebels beat Nolan Catholic 65-25 Thursday at Doskocil Stadium. Rice had 185 yards receiving, and Rylee Johnson completed his night with a 75-yard touchdown run.
Key players: Trent threw for 271 yards and two scores and ran for another TD. Shamar Johnson had 119 all-purpose yards, including an 86-yard kickoff return to the Nolan 2-yard line. Richland’s defense, led by A&M commit DE Dashaun White, held the Vikings to no first downs until six minutes remained in the first half. Vikings running back Rory Mitchell finished with 125 yards rushing, 60 of which came on one run late in the contest.
Key stat: Richland’s Rylee Johnson averaged nearly 10 yards per carry, and Rice averaged 37 yards per catch. Nolan lost two fumbles and gave up an interception return for score by Richland’s Kevin Garcia.
