Gig ’em: Texas A&M lands verbal commit from Richland senior linebacker DaShaun White

Highly recruited linebacker DaShaun White, an incoming senior for Richland High School, will be going to College Station after committing to Texas A&M on Sunday.

White, who was first-team all-district in 8-5A with 114 tackles last season, chose the Aggies over 19 other scholarship offers including Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, TCU, Baylor, Arkansas and UCLA.

“The relationships I've built with everyone there are beyond any I've had up to this point and the opportunity to play in an underdog program against the best teams every Saturday with guys I feel like I could strive around are what led my heart to the decision,” White said. “My heart has been at A&M for sometime now.”

A&M coach Kevin Sumlin even took to Twitter shortly after White announced with a “YES SIR!”

Other area athletes now attending Texas A&M include Anthony Hines (Plano East), Buddy Johnson (Dallas Kimball), Camron Buckley (Cedar Hill), Jared Hocker (Birdville) and Carson Green (Southlake Carroll).
