Oklahoma lands Aledo star running back McClellan and his teammate

Aledo sophomore running back Jase McClellan spent part of last weekend in Austin, on a recruiting visit to the University of Texas. Saturday he was in Norman, Okla., visiting the Oklahoma coaching staff.

The Sooners won out. McClellan announced his commitment to OU Saturday on Twitter.

“After a great day in Norman, I would like to announce that I have committed to The University of Oklahoma,” he tweeted just after 8 p.m. Saturday.

McClellan received the offer from OU in March and held 13 other offers, after rushing for 1,528 yards and 20 touchdowns as a freshman, including a 59-yarder in Aledo’s 24-16 5A DII state title game win over Corpus Christi Calallen that helped him earn offensive MVP honors. He was named the 2016 MaxPreps freshman of the year last year and is considered one of the top recruits nationally in the class of 2020.

He’ll join Aledo junior wide receiver Jeffery Carter in Norman, after the Class of 2019 wide receiver committed on Twitter less than two hours before.

Carter, a 247 composite 3-star recruit, scored Aledo’s first touchdown of the 2016 season in the Bearcats’ 41-36 win over Colleyville Heritage to start the 16-0 season.
