TCU baseball coach Jim Schlossnagle has been named the Baseball America national coach of the year after guiding the Horned Frogs to a third consecutive appearance in the College World Series.

Schlossnagle also received the honor in 2010 after TCU’s first trip to the College World Series.

TCU finished 49-18 and won the Big 12 tournament after finishing third in the conference during the regular season. The Frogs swept the Fort Worth Regional and advanced to Omaha with a victory over No. 4 national seed Texas A&M in the Super Regional in College Station.

Schlossnagle, TCU’s all-time winningest baseball coach, signed a contract extension June 27.
