TCU splits home-opening doubleheader against Long Beach State

TCU split a doubleheader with Long Beach State Saturday, the Horned Frogs first home games of the season.

The Frogs won the late game 8-3 behind Michael Landestoy’s two RBIs. He drew a bases-loaded walk in the first and singled in the go-ahead run in the fifth.

TCU left-handler Nick Lodolo held Long Beach State to one earned run on two hits. The Dirtbags scored two unearned runs in the in the third. The series finale is scheduled for 1 p.m. Sunday.

Jared Janczak took the loss in Game 1 despite only allowing three earned runs on five hits over 6 1/3 innings. Josh Watson and Landestoy combined for five of the Frogs' seven hits. Waston's RBI double in the first gave TCU the lead.

Luke Rasmussen's home run to left tied it and Garrett Nelson's lead-off double in the third set up the go-ahead run on a groundout.

Left-hander Zak Baayoun held the Frogs to two runs (one earned) on six hits and three walks. He struck out seven and improved to 2-0.
