The commitment of DeSoto guard Feron Hunt helped TCU to the top of the recruiting rankings in the Big 12.

Hunt announced his commitment on Sunday. He is the fourth player in the 2018 recruiting class for the Horned Frogs, rated No. 1 in the Big 12 by Rivals with a 3.25 average star rating.

Hunt is a 6-7 combo guard-forward rated four-stars by Scout.com and three-stars by Rivals.com and 247Sports.com.

TCU ranks ahead of Texas, Kansas, Baylor, Oklahoma and West Virginia, in that order, in the Rivals rankings. TCU’s four commitments are the most in the conference. Only Kansas has as many as two commitments so far.

Nationally, TCU ranks 13th on the Rivals list.

TCU is also No. 1 in the Scout rankings, although with only three commitments on its list. New Zealand juniors player Angus McWilliam, rated three-stars, is not included in the Scout rankings.

The addition of Hunt was praised by recruiting analyst Evan Daniels, who said TCU “nabbed a heck of an athlete.”

The early signing date for basketball is Nov. 8-15. The regular signing period for basketball is April 11 to May 16.
